Ducati India seems to be doing quite well in the Indian market as they have just registered a growth of 18% in 2016 - in a market that grew by only 4.6%. The Italian manufacturer also announced that they have now sold over 1000 units in India, which bring their market share in the premium motorcycle segment up to 7.7 percent from 6.4 percent.
Hoping to build up on their success, Ducati has also revealed to us that they will be launching 5 completely new models in 2017. We did see some very interesting new bikes that were revealed at EICMA last year, and it is probable that most of those bikes will make their way over to India.
The best selling model currently in India is the Multistrada, which made up 89 percent of the sales in India in 2016. We already know that the Multistrada has been launched with a smaller capacity engine in Europe, and it's confirmed that this new Multistrada 950 will also come to India by June this year.
Other models that will likely make their way to India this year are the Scrambler Ducati Sixty2, the new Ducati Monster 797, the SuperSport and the Hypermotard 939.
Speaking about the growth of Ducati in India, Ravi Avalur, Managing Director of Ducati India said, “Our growth has confirmed Ducati’s ability to excite the Indian market. In 2017, we will have a robust network of ten dealerships across the country. The Ducatisti community is also growing with three Desmo Owners Clubs operational and two more in the pipeline. We’re looking forward to a great 2017 for Ducati.”
