Ducati India is prepared to introduce the Hypermotard 698 Mono, a middle-weight single-cylinder motorcycle, to Indian riders. The Hypermotard 698 Mono, which is the Italian brand's first bike with a production-spec single-cylinder engine in thirty years, was unveiled in November last year. It will soon go on sale in our market. An official teaser from the company has confirmed the update. However, Ducati has not yet announced the official launch date for the motorcycle.

Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono: Engine Details

The main talking point of the upcoming model is its engine. A 659cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder Superquadro mono unit powers the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono. With 77.5bhp of maximum power and a peak torque of 63Nm, this is the most potent single-cylinder engine available. It is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox with a slip-and-assist clutch.

Customers may also choose to upgrade to a Termignoni racing exhaust, which increases the output to 84.5bhp and 67Nm. Whether the same will be available in India is still unknown.

Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono: Appearance

Similar in size to its larger sibling, the Ducati Hypermotard 950, the Hypermotard 698 Mono boasts an aggressive yet compact appearance. Its streamlined design features a high seat, a straight double-sided swingarm, alloy wheels, and a narrow tail portion. The motorcycle is equipped with a fairing that surrounds the exhaust system, creating room for the number plate holder. A feature exclusive to the Hypermotard family, it also has twin upswept silencers on either side of the tail section.

Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono: Hardware Components

The steel trellis frame of the Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is supported by a Marzocchi suspension setup. A fully adjustable Sach monoshock is mounted on the back end, while a 45mm aluminium USD fork is positioned on the front. Braking duties are handled by aluminium flange discs that keep the bike's weight under control. The front end features a radial pump with an adjustable lever and a 330mm disc with a Brembo M4.32 calliper. A single-piston floating calliper along with a 245mm disc is located on the rear end. It has 17-inch wheels with Diablo Rosso 4 tyres on the front (120/70) and rear (160/60).

When it comes to the feature set, the Hypermotard 698 Mono offers a 3.8-inch LCD, all-LED lighting, engine brake control, wheelie control, traction control, three power modes, launch control, ride-by-wire, and cornering ABS. On top of that, there are four riding modes available: Sport, Road, Urban, and Wet.

Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono: Expected Price

The Ducati Hypermotard 698 Mono is anticipated to retail for between Rs 9.50 and Rs 10.50 lakh (both prices, ex-showroom). Since supermoto bikes are not currently available for purchase in India, the upcoming Ducati model will not have any direct competitors in this market.
