Classic Legends, Mahindra's premium two-wheeler division, is set to launch the Gold Star 650 under its UK-based motorcycle brand, BSA Motorcycles, in India on August 15, 2024. While the BSA Gold Star 650 has been on sale for over two years in international markets, the bike will mark the re-entry of BSA Motorcycles into our market. BSA officially made a comeback at the Motorcycle Live show in Birmingham in 2021 when it unveiled the Gold Star 650.
Powering the BSA Gold Star is a 652cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC 4-valve engine, which produces 45bhp at 6,000rpm and 55Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm. The engine, which has been developed in partnership with the Technical University of Graz, is mated to a 5-speed gearbox, accompanied by a slip and assist clutch. Upon arrival on our market, the Gold Star will have a direct rival in the form of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which uses a 47bhp 648cc twin-cylinder engine.

BSA Gold Star: Hardware
Hardware-wise, the Gold Star uses a cradle frame, suspended by a 41mm telescopic front at the front and 5-step preload adjustable twin-shock absorbers at the rear. Stopping power comes from a 320mm front disc and a 255mm rear disc, with dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system) as standard. The discs come fitted on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear spoked wheels, which are wrapped in Pirelli Phantom Sportscomp tyres.
BSA Gold Star: Design, Features
The BSA Gold Star is a modern-classic motorcycle, which takes its design inspiration from the original Gold Star. The connection to the original bike is apparent in the chromed fuel tank, curved fenders, and side panel. In terms of features, the bike gets a round halogen headlamp, a signature twin-pod instrument cluster, an engine immobiliser, and a handlebar-mounted USB port. There is also a pronounced BSA Gold Star logo. With the fuel tank completely filled, the bike tips the scales at 213kg (kerb).
