The BMW S1000RR based naked motorcycle, BMW S1000R is expected to be launched in the BS6 avatar sometime this month. The motorcycle is expected to sport very minor cosmetic updates
BMW Motorrad India recently launched the M1000RR in the Indian market and the motorcycle retails for Rs 42 lakh. After updating its supersport portfolio to meet the BS6 norms, BMW Motorrad has teased its 2021 S1000R on social network platforms. The teasers confirm that the S1000R has been updated to meet the BS6 norms and the litre-class street naked motorcycle could sport a few mechanical update.
For the 2021 model year, the S1000R gets an all-LED headlamp assembly. Most likely the same headlamp unit equipped in the BMW G310R and the F900R. Other than the exterior update, the motorcycle will be the same in terms of powertrain and cycle parts. The engine will be the same in-line four-cylinder 999cc rated for 162bhp and 114Nm. The gearbox is a six-speed unit with an optional two-way quick shifter.
Three riding modes – Rain, Road and Dynamic, and IMU-based cornering ABS and Traction control come standard. Optional equipment includes tyre pressure, adaptive cornering ABS, keyless ride.
Along with the standard model, BMW Motorrad could introduce the M package that mainly lightens the 199kg motorcycle by 5kg. The equipment offered in the M package is mainly a lightweight battery, lightweight forged wheels.
The motorcycle will continue to rival the Kawasaki Z900 and the Triumph Street Triple RS. The prices are expected to be around Rs 18.25 lakh, almost Rs 1.5 lakh over the BS4 model.
