Aprilia will soon launch the more affordable SXR 125 touring scooter in India. The upcoming scooter will directly take on the Suzuki Burgman 125 that was positioned in a niche spot in the Indian market
Aprilia SXR 160 was launched in India back in December 2020. As seen in other Aprilia and Piaggio products which are offered in two engine options - 125cc and 160cc, it was a given that the SXR could be offered with the same. This time around, Aprilia has announced that the SXR will be launched with a smaller, more affordable engine option. The Aprilia SXR 125 has been announced for the Indian market and the manufacturer has commenced the bookings for the same - at a token amount of Rs 5,000. The upcoming scooter can be booked from an e-commerce site or at Aprilia’s authorised dealership.
The more affordable Aprilia SXR 125 will directly rival the Suzuki Burgman 125 and could be priced around Rs 1,05,000 ex-showroom. The engine on offer will be the same 125cc unit seen on Aprilia SR 125 and probably be in the same state of tune i.e 9.7bhp at 7,500rpm and 9.6Nm at 5,500rpm.
The feature list will be similar to the SXR 160 that includes an all digital instrument cluster, optional bluetooth connectivity and LED headlamp and tail lamp assembly. The colour options are matte black and matte blue, and should you wish to opt for a gloss finished scooter then the options are gloss red and gloss white. The mechanicals such as telescopic front suspension and disc brake unit (front) will be shared as well. Aprilia has confirmed that production of the SXR 125 has began and the scooter should be launched in the market in coming weeks.
