The BMW R 1300 RT will be a successor to the R 1250 RT, with a host of significant upgrades. In India, the bike is anticipated to carry a considerable premium over its predecessor.
After unveiling the boxer-powered R 1300 R, BMW Motorrad is now set to globally reveal the R 1300 RT on April 29, 2025. Based on teasers and spy images, the R 1300 RT will feature a transparent windscreen, a vertically stacked LED headlight, and DRLs. It’s expected to ditch the previous tubular steel frame for a sheet metal chassis, resulting in a lighter, more agile ride. A cast aluminium sub-frame will likely be added for improved handling and weight reduction. The new fairing, while redesigned, will retain the substantial presence of the R 1250 RT's. Spy shots also suggest optional panniers and a top box will be available.
At the heart of the R 1300 RT will be a 1300cc boxer-twin engine, also found on the BMW R 1300 GS, and producing 145bhp at 7,750rpm and 149Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. This potent unit is coupled with a 6-speed gearbox and a shaft drive system, ensuring power is transferred smoothly to the road. The bike is likely to come with an automatic transmission.

The R 1300 RT is expected to come packed with a range of advanced electronics, including a large TFT display with smartphone connectivity, different ride modes, and a traction control system. It will likely include multiple ABS modes for enhanced safety in varying conditions. The R 1300 RT is said to be equipped with the brand’s renowned Telelever suspension at the front.
At this point, there is no official confirmation, but the sporty bagger is expected to make its way to Indian streets following its global debut sometime soon. Given the growing popularity of BMW’s touring motorcycles in the region, enthusiasts can expect the R 1300 RT to follow the success of its predecessor.
