BMW R 1300 R to Make Global Debut on April 10 with Boxer Twin Engine
Following the most recent debut of the R12 GS, BMW Motorrad has now confirmed that the R 1300 R, based on the famous boxer platform, will be revealed on April 10 for the global markets.

BMW Motorrad has confirmed that the new R 1300 R, built on the popular boxer platform, will be unveiled on April 10, 2025. This comes shortly after the introduction of the R12 GS, a more rugged, off-road oriented model derived from the R 12 nineT. Although exact details are unknown, BMW's highly anticipated big boxer twin roadster is first set to go on sale in Europe and the US before arriving in India towards the end of the year. The bike is likely to feature substantial revisions to its design, chassis, and engine compared to its predecessor. While it's still early to comment on the price, the Indian-spec R 1300 R could retail between Rs 22 lakh and Rs 25 lakh in India.

The R 1300 R will share the 1,300cc air/liquid-cooled Boxer engine with the R 1300 GS. However, it's uncertain if the power figures (143bhp/149Nm in the GS) will be the same. The Automated Shift Assistant is expected to be an optional feature.

The R 1300 R is expected to have a significantly altered chassis compared to its predecessor, resulting in a notable shift in the kerb weight. Beyond the frame, the upcoming big boxer twin roadster will likely have redesigned components across the board, including the suspension setup, wheel designs, and rider instrumentation. There could be several variants on offer, with the top-spec ones featuring advanced technologies.
The new R 1300 R is anticipated to retain some recognisable design elements from the R 1250 R, especially at the front and rear, while introducing fresh changes to its mid-section. These updates are set to give the roadster a more modern and dynamic appearance. More details on this exciting new BMW model will be released tomorrow, April 10.
