BMW has issued a recall for R 1300 GS bikes manufactured before March 18, 2024, in the international market to address an issue with the relay that causes the motorcycle to stall. Reportedly, the issue has affected more than 25,000 ADV units, however, only 8 of them have a recorded case of a burnt or melted relay. To make things right, the company will replace the defective semiconductors with an electromechanical starter relay without any cost. In addition to the hardware change, a software update will be made available to the bikes in August. BMW has stated that bikes manufactured after March 18 are unaffected and feature the updated relay. The BMW R 1300 GS was launched in India in June 2024, which means all imported motorcycles have been produced after March, resulting in no recalls in our market. Let's look at some key specifications of the India-spec R 1300 GS.
