On the mechanical front, a 1,300cc twin-cylinder engine, generating 149Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm and 145bhp of maximum power at 7,750rpm, will propel the new GS Adventure. As far as transmission is concerned, the standard GS comes with a six-speed transmission in conjunction with this unit. Moreover, several industry reports suggest that the manufacturer may employ its recently introduced Automated Shift Assistant (ASA).
To detect the clutch position and the revs of the transmission input shaft, the ASA utilises two electromechanical actuators, one for the clutch and another for the gear shifts. These actuators work with the ECU and sensors. The foot lever can be used for both semi-manual and automatic shifting with this arrangement.
