BMW Motorrad India is venturing into the maxi-scooter space with its C 400 GT. Recently in the European markets, the C 400 GT was updated with a Euro 5 compliant engine, revised drivetrain and upgraded cycle parts.

BMW Motorrad India has finally confirmed that the brand will introduce its maxi-scooter, the C 400 GT, on October 12. The new maxi-scooter is likely to be brought in via the CBU route, so expect a higher price tag between Rs 5.5 lakh and Rs 6 lakh (ex-showroom).

Currently, the Indian two-wheeler market has seen some attention in the larger capacity scooter space. Yamaha India recently launched the Aerox 155 which is a sporty scooter that mainly rivals the Aprilia SXR 160.

The BMW C 400 GT, on the other hand, will be a middle-weight touring scooter that will carve a niche of its own in terms of segment positioning.

Speaking of the mechanicals and drivetrain, the C 400 GT gets a 350cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine mated to a CVT.  The powertrain puts out 33.5 bhp at 7,500rpm and 35Nm at 5,750rpm. Cycle parts include a twin-disc setup and telescopic forks in the front. The scooter gets a single disc brake and dual-shock absorbers on the rear end. In addition to ABS, BMW Motorrad also offers automatic stability control. More talking points of the C 400 GT are a large stepped seat, tall-visor, and an all-LED headlamp housed into a beefy apron.
