The joint venture between DSK Motowheels and Benelli will sell five superbikes in India March onwards with prices starting from Rs. 3.5 lakhs.
One of the most talked about mergers of the recent times, DSK-Benelli will start selling five motorcycles in the Indian market March 2015 onwards. Initially, the motorcycles will be sold in eight cities – Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
Out of the five models, three models – TNT 600 GT, TNT 600 I and TNT 302 – will arrive in the Indian market via the CKD route and the more powerful ones – TNT 899 and TNT 1130 R will come as CBUs. The first three models will be made in China and assembled here whereas the other two machines will reach the Indian shore from Italy.
Taking the first year a little easily, Benelli will open close to 20 dealerships across India by the end of 2015. This mark is expected to cross the 40 mark by the end of next year – 2016.
Commenting on the new deadlines, Mr. Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman, DSK Motowheels said, “Deliveries of Benelli superbikes will begin from second week of March. All the five models from the range would be available for sale across eight cities.”
When asked about the sales target for the first fiscal, Kulkarni said, "We expect to sell around 2,500 units of Hyosung bikes in the current fiscal. In the next financial year, we are looking to sell around 3,000 units of Benelli thus taking our total sales to over 5,500 units."
The bikes, including models ranging from 300 cc to 1,130 cc will be priced between Rs. 3.5 lakhs and Rs. 14 lakhs, Kulkarni said commenting on the prices.
