Hero Xtreme 125R vs Bajaj Pulsar NS125 Spec Comparison: Which One Should You Buy?

We compare the recently launched Bajaj Pulsar NS125 with the Hero Xtreme 125R to find out how they stack up against each other.

Bajaj Auto has launched the new Pulsar NS125 in India, priced at Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2024 Pulsar NS125 is the brand's entry-level commuter bike that receives updates in the form of revised styling and a fully digital instrument cluster. It is aimed squarely at the likes of the TVS Raider 125 (Rs 95,219 to Rs 1.03 lakh) and the Hero Xtreme 125R (Rs 95,000 to Rs 1 lakh) – launched in January. We compare the latter with the recently launched Bajaj Pulsar NS125 to find out how they stack up against each other.

In terms of the powertrain, both bikes come powered by a 125cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine mated to a five-speed transmission. The 2024 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 develops 11.8bhp at 8,500rpm, whereas the Hero Xtreme 125R churns out 11.4bhp at 8,250rpm. Meanwhile, the torque output of the former stands at 11Nm, which is marginally higher than the Xtreme 125R's (10.5Nm).

Hero Xtreme 125R vs Bajaj Pulsar NS125: Suspension, Brakes

The Pulsar NS125's suspension setup consists of the same telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock, whereas the braking hardware incorporates a disc at the front and a drum at the back, both mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels. While the Hero Xtreme 125R uses the same suspension setup as the Pulsar NS125, it features a disc brake at the front with an option of a drum or disc at the rear.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 does away with a partially digital instrument console and offers a digital reverse LCD console instead. The new instrument cluster houses a trip meter, odometer, rev counter, and fuel level readout, and is also compatible with a smartphone. ABS, a USB charging port, and all-LED lighting are other features of the NS125.

Like the Pulsar NS125, the Hero Xtreme 125R also gets full LED illumination and a fully digital instrument cluster. The latter comes with Bluetooth connectivity for call and message notifications. The feature list also includes a hazard light switch.

With the Hero Xtreme 125R – which is Hero MotoCorp's first launch of 2024, you get an LED headlamp, a chunky fuel tank with sharp extensions, slimmer LED indicators, split seats, multi-spoke alloys, and an upswept tail section, all highlighting the fresh styling approach.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 retains the previous model's muscular design. However, it receives changes in the form of a new headlamp setup featuring a pair of vertically stacked LED lights, boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, LED turn indicators, and a revised headlight cowl. 

Hero Xtreme 125R vs Bajaj Pulsar NS125: Price, Variants

The Bajaj Pulsar NS125 can be had in a single variant, priced at Rs 1.05 lakh. If you choose the Hero Xtreme 125R, you will have to shell out Rs 99,500 for the top-spec ABS variant, while the base version costs Rs 95,000. The prices are ex-showroom.
