Bajaj Auto, which originally opened bookings for the Freedom CNG only in Maharashtra and Gujarat, has started accepting reservations for the model across India. The booking amount is set at Rs 1,000. While the exact reason behind this is not known, this could be due to overwhelming consumer interest in the Freedom 125 CNG, which, according to Bajaj, offers a reduction in operating costs by up to 50 percent and a greener ride (26.7 percent less carbon dioxide compared to similar petrol counterparts).
Deliveries of the Bajaj Freedom 125 have also begun in India. The first unit went to a buyer in Pune, with other regions to follow later. Priced from Rs 95,000 to Rs 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom), the Freedom 125 is the world's first mass-market CNG bike with a 125cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which can run on either the CNG or the petrol model at the flick of a switch. The claimed mileage on CNG is 102km/kg, while the petrol version returns a 65km/l claimed mileage.

'The Bajaj Freedom 125 launch has generated almost unprecedented consumer interest in this innovation, which helps deliver significant operating cost savings as well as a greener ride as compared to traditional petrol bikes. We are working hard to ensure that we meet this demand by expanding distribution rapidly across our expansive dealer network. Booking is now open across the country,' said Sarang Kanade, President (Motorcycle Business), Bajaj Auto Ltd.
