Bajaj Auto has launched the Freedom 125, the first-ever bike powered by compressed natural gas (CNG). The model is available for purchase at an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 95,000. Compared to a two-wheeler propelled by petrol, the bike's running expenses are substantially lower because CNG primarily powers it. Bajaj has given the Freedom 125 a distinctive, high-end-looking design featuring braced handlebars, an exposed trellis frame, and forks with fork sleeves.

Among the bike's many noteworthy features are the longest seat in the market (785mm) and the segment-first linked monoshock. The Freedom 125 has a 2kg CNG tank and a 2-litre petrol tank, giving it a combined range of 330km. The 125cc engine produces 9.3bhp and 9.7Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The rider can easily switch between the two tanks via a handlebar-mounted switch. The bike is offered in three variants, having the same engine specs, range, and tank capacity. Let's take a look at the variant-specific features.

Bajaj Freedom 125: Drum Variant (Priced at 95,000)

The Bajaj Freedom 125's entry-level model, the NG04 Drum (Rs 95,000, ex-showroom), has a simple configuration with a full LCD panel and a halogen headlight. The base variant lacks Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones, unlike the top-spec variant. Furthermore, its 130mm front and 110mm rear drum brakes with CBS (combined braking system) handle the braking duties.

The bike has 80-section tyres on both ends but rides on the same 17-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels as the other versions. This base-spec variant has a sheet metal bash plate instead of a tank cover flap. Only two colours are offered: Pewter Grey – Yellow and Ebony Black – Red.

Bajaj Freedom 125: Drum LED Variant (Priced at Rs 1.05 Lakh)

The mid-spec NG04 Drum LED model includes a tank cover flap, LED DRLs (daytime running lights), and an LED headlight. Similar to the base model, this version lacks Bluetooth connectivity for smartphones. The Drum LED variant retails for Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom).

The model has a larger 130mm rear drum brake, as the name "Drum" suggests, whereas the regular model has a 110mm rear drum brake. Its bash plate is made of strong plastic steel. It comes in a total of five paint jobs: Racing Red, Pewter Grey – Black, Ebony Black – Grey, Caribbean Blue, and Cyber White.

Bajaj Freedom 125: Disc LED Variant (Priced at 1.10 Lakh)

The top-of-the-line model, known as the NG04 Disc LED (Rs 1.10 lakh, ex-showroom), is loaded with amenities. A negatively illuminated LCD instrument console with an LED headlamp and LED DRLs, as well as smartphone connectivity via Bluetooth for call notifications with caller ID, missed call notification, and battery life, are offered with the model. On top of that, the Disc LED variant includes a flap for the tank cover, a sturdy plastic-steel bash plate, and a USB charging port to power up your gadgets.

The bike sports a rear drum brake with CBS and a front disc brake measuring 240mm. It has a 16-inch alloy rear wheel with a 120-section tyre and a 17-inch alloy front wheel with a 90-section tyre. Like the mid-spec variant, the Disc LED is available in five appealing colour schemes: Caribbean Blue, Ebony Black – Grey, Pewter Grey – Black, Racing Red, and Cyber White.
