Christmas has come early for Ather owners, especially for those residing in Bengaluru and Chennai. The company has extended its free fast-charging service until the first half of the next year.
Ather has announced an extension of its free-charging service until 30 June 2022. So far, the service will be available to its customers in Bengaluru and Chennai only, but we suspect that Ather may offer a similar free-charging service to its customers in other cities as well.
The initial plan was to offer the free-charging service until the end of this year and, then, introduce subscription-based public-charging plans from January 1, 2022.
Currently, Ather is installing a new charging system, which will feature OTA (Over The Air) updates and the next generation of chargers. Ather has dubbed the new infrastructure the ‘Ather Grid 2.0’ and is currently setting it up in Bengaluru and Chennai. The new charging infrastructure will be set up in other cities in a phased manner. Ather is optimistic about inaugurating 500 Ather Grid 2.0s by the end of FY-22. Ather also says that this new charging infrastructure can withstand weather conditions.
Last month, Ather announced free-connectivity features on all its models until May 15, 2022. Customers who have opted for Ather’s Connect Pro subscription pack will receive their refund from the company.
