Including the existing dealer network, with this expansion Ather will have have presence in 27 cities across the country. The phase 2 of expansion also includes smaller cities like Surat, Nagpur, Lucknow and more
At the time of its launch a few years back, Ather Energy kickstarted their journey with just two company operated outlets called Ather Space. After being reluctant to go the dealer partner way for over two years, in January the Bengaluru-based start-up eventually seemed to warm up to them. With that the EV scooter maker announced an expansion in cities likes Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune among others. In fact, over the course of the year Ather has expanded to 11 outlets across the country. Now, the company has announced a further expansion of 16 more cities in the Phase 2, which is likely to get by Q1 2021. As part of this plan, Ather will expand to Mysore, Hubli, Jaipur, Indore, Panaji, Bhubaneshwar, Nasik, Surat, Chandigarh, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Nagpur, Noida, Lucknow and Siliguri.
Some customers from these cities will also be able to get the Series 1 limited edition models as they booked the scooter at the time of the launch in January 2020. Ather will start expansion into these cities in a staggered manner by Q1 2021, and will soon start setting test drives for customers. The company is also in conversation with retail partners in these markets to set up their EV infrastructure. Currently, in the 11 market where the brand has presence, it has more than 60 Ather Grid charging stations.
Speaking about the expansion plans, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy said, “This expansion is the result of the strong demand from the consumers, dealerships and also, the test ride requests that we have received since the launch of Ather 450X. Ather Energy has always strived to build futuristic electric two-wheelers which boast of superior technology and innovative solutions to make the switch to electric easier for the consumers. We aim to introduce Ather products across the country and fulfill the needs of consumers by providing a premium offering.”
Ather Energy launched the new 450X in January and after a delay due to the coronavirus pandemic, commenced deliveries last month. With the new and updated 450X now on sale, the company has pulled the plug on the old 450.
