Subsequent to its launch in Bengaluru last year, Ather Energy has now entered Chennai. Bookings for the Ather 340 and 450 have already begun and the company has also started installing Ather Grids across the city.
Ather Energy has now entered Chennai by launching both their offerings the 340 and the 450 at Rs 1.19 lakh and Rs 1.31 lakh respectively (on-road in Chennai). The Bengaluru-based company first lunched their products in the home market in June last year, and have now commenced sale in Chennai – possibly chosen keeping in mind geographic convenience from the headquarters.
Wondering what took Ather Energy almost a year to expand just into their second market? At the time of its debut, Ather Energy built a reputation of going the distance – something that they want to maintain even as they expand. With that in mind, the company has begun the installation of its Ather Grid points in Chennai from May 2019 – ten have been set up already. To encourage the use of EVs, Ather Energy will provide free charging at these grids till December 2019. The company plans to install 40-50 more such charging stations across the city. Further, for those looking to experience the products in person, the Ather Space will be inaugurated at the Wallace Garden, Nungambakkam on 24th July.
Ather Energy already showcased the 450 in Chennai prior to its official launch. The company had 50 of its existing owners travel for the launch in Chennai as part of the Ather Community. The pre-launch event proved to be quite fruitful for the firm and both scooters have already been sold out in Chennai till November 2019. The company hasn’t revealed the exact number of bookings as yet. That being said, in a bid to reduce waiting periods of its products, the company is increasing its production capacity in Bengaluru.
Just like in its home turf, Ather Energy has announced free Ather One subscription for all deliveries in 2019. Subsequently, all owners can opt to purchase the Ather One plan at Rs 700 plus taxes per month. This covers the scooter for regular maintenance, consumables, breakdown assistance, and free public and home charging.
