While the Ather 450X has been launched with a lower base price than the standard Ather 450 e-scooter, there is a catch after all.
After much hype and waiting, Ather has officially launched the 450X e-scooter today, priced at ₹99,000 (base price, ex-showroom Bengaluru). The base price though will be applicable only if you buy the monthly subscription pack separately. There are two packs on offer – Plus (₹1,699/month) and Pro (₹1,999/month) – and each pack offers a different power & range capacity of the 450X.
However, you can also skip the monthly subscription pack and opt for the upfront purchase. If you choose the latter, the Ather 450X is priced at ₹1.49 lakh (Plus) and ₹1.59 lakh (Pro). All figures are ex-showroom, Bengaluru. But again, the upfront costs do not include the cost of the Ather Connect subscription pack (mandatory). The Ather Connect pack is needed for Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, free-of-cost access to Ather Grid fast-charging network and unlimited battery warranty.
The Ather 450X is driven by a 6kW (8bhp) PMSM motor that's powered by a 2.9kWh Li-ion battery. The motor is good for 26Nm of max torque and can propel the 450X from 0-40km/h in 3.3seconds, to a top speed of 80km/h. There are four riding modes on offer – Warp, Sport, Ride & Eco. As the 450X gets a bigger battery, the charging times are pegged at 3H 35Min (up to 80%) and 5H 45Min (for a full charge).
The bigger battery has also led to gains in the riding range. Compared to the Ather 450, the 450X gets a 70km range in Ride mode (up from 65km). In Eco Mode, the range has gone up by 10km, to 85km.
As stated above, the type of subscription plan (Plus/Pro) determines the performance of your 450X. Mentioned below are the spec differences for the two plans:
Ather has also given significant updates to the 450X's touchscreen instrument console. The size though is unchanged at 7-inch. Here's a look at all the connectivity & feature updates of the Ather 450X:
