While there's been an obvious delay in Ather 450X's customer deliveries due to the pandemic, the good news is that the scooter will now go on sale in 10 cities, including New Delhi and Mumbai, by the first quarter of 2021.
Ather Energy has announced that customer deliveries of the new Ather 450X electric scooter will finally commence from November 2020. The Ather 450X was launched earlier this year in January but, thanks to the lockdown and Coronavirus throwing a spanner in the works, the deliveries of the scooter had to be put on hold.
Despite the delay, the good news is that the new Ather 450X will go on sale across 10 cities in the country by the first quarter of 2021. Thus far, Ather only had operations in Bengaluru and Chennai. Customer deliveries of the Ather 450X will begin in those two cities in November, but the very same month, customers in Hyderabad, Pune, Kochi, Kolkata and Ahmedabad will also get their Ather 450X scooters, the company has confirmed.
Following that, Ather Energy will finally kick start operations in North India, starting with New Delhi, as customer deliveries of the new Ather 450X are set to commence from December 2020. Around the same time, folks in Mumbai will also get Ather's latest product for the very first time. Starting Q1 2021, customer deliveries will begin in Coimbatore and other cities as well.
Ather has also confirmed that on-ground test rides of the Ather 450X will be starting from October across all the listed markets. The company will also be setting up its fast-charging network – Ather Grid – across each city before delivery so that new owners have a hassle-free experience.
Commenting on the development, Tarun Mehta, Co-founder & CEO, Ather Energy, said: “The pandemic did disrupt our timelines by a few months, but we have been able to get back on track with our plans. We used the time to refine our expansion plan and get the ball rolling on our go-to-market strategy. We have also been working very actively with our supplier partners to ensure minimal disruption in the supply chain. The excitement and the wait has been too long now we can’t wait to get started. We will soon share more information on our dealer network and Ather Grid points across each city. The demand has been phenomenal, and we are sure with different ownership and purchase models that we will introduce, it will help consumers make the shift to electric with ease. Exciting times ahead.”
