After officially confirming the launch of two new scooters in 2024 via Instagram, Ather Energy has teased the automotive world with its upcoming electric scooter – the 450 Apex. The teaser video came after the brand celebrated its 10th anniversary at the factory in Hosur. Calling it the brand's ''fastest'' scooter yet, CEO and co-founder Tarun Mehta gives us a sneak peek at the Apex that will be launched in India next year.
While not much is known about the Ather 450 Apex, the company has revealed that it will be the "pinnacle of the 450 platform", and will sit above the existing 450X in the lineup. Based on the first ride reactions, the Apex is expected to offer better performance than the recently updated 450X. For reference, the Ather 450X is claimed to have a top speed of 90km/h, while a dash of 0 to 40km/h is possible in a claimed time of 3.3 seconds.

Additionally, the 450X gets a Warp riding mode, which means there is a step up in the power output. Despite that, we expect the upcoming Apex model to be a cut above the 450X, in terms of performance.
Ather 450 Apex: Battery Specs
The Ather 450 Apex is likely to get the same 3.7kWh battery pack as the 450X; however, the motor is expected to be differently tuned to deliver enhanced performance. The 450X, meanwhile, draws power from a 6.2kW motor linked to a 2.9kWh battery as well as a 3.7kWh battery pack. The smaller battery yields a claimed 111km range, while the larger battery pack offers a 150km range on a single charge.
Ather 450 Apex: Features
Given the fact that it will be the "pinnacle" of the 450 platform, the Ather 450 Apex will be offered with "best-in-class" features, according to the company. Also expect the scooter to come with single-channel ABS, cruise control, as well as transparent body panels, called Series 2.
With all this, the new Apex scooter is anticipated to be priced above the 3.7kWh Ather 450X, which currently retails at Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon launch in India, the Apex will go toe-to-toe with the likes of the TVS X, the Ola S1 Pro, and others.
Ather "Family-Oriented" Scooter to be Launched Too
Besides the Apex, the Bengaluru-based EV maker is also gearing up to launch the "bigger, family-oriented scooter" in 2024. Aiming to offer "comfort, ample size, and a whole lot more", this scooter will not only help Ather expand its EV portfolio in India but also address a few issues with the 450X and the 450S, including compact dimensions.

Though it seems to have gone for a conventional design approach, the scooter is likely to borrow mechanical components from the 450 series; however, its motor could be differently tuned for more range and improved performance.
