Aprilia Tuono 457 vs RS 457: Key Differences Explained
Aprilia has launched the Tuono 457 in India at Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Here's how this naked streetfighter differs from its fully-faired sibling, the RS 457.

The Aprilia Tuono 457 and RS 457 have the same platform, but their distinct styling results in two very different riding experiences. The RS 457 is a fully-faired sportbike designed for track lovers, offering exceptional speed, precise handling, and a race-inspired feel. On the other hand, the Tuono 457 is a naked streetfighter, designed for everyday city commuting and extended rides without compromising on performance. Its exposed design and more upright riding position highlight its streetfighter style. While both bikes share the same brand, their distinct features cater to different types of riders. Here's a look at the main differences between the 457 models.

Aprilia Tuono 457 vs RS 457: Looks
The Tuono 457, a street-naked derivative of the RS 457, has a boldly distinct look. Its compact, aggressive headlamp with integrated LED DRLs sharply contrasts with the RS 457’s iconic triple-pod headlights. Though the fuel tank remains unchanged, the lack of fairings and the addition of striking radiator shrouds further emphasise its streetfighter character. The Tuono 457 further distinguishes itself from the fully-faired RS 457 with a more comfortable, relaxed riding position. Its single-piece handlebar, positioned higher than the RS 457’s clip-ons, provides a more relaxed, upright riding position, ideal for longer and more comfortable journeys.

As for the colours, the Tuono 457 offers two striking options: Piranha Red and Puma Grey. On the other hand, the RS 457 provides more variety, with three options: Racing Stripes, Prismatic Dark, and Opalescent White.
Aprilia Tuono 457 vs RS 457: Price
With a price tag of Rs 3.95 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tuono 457 is Rs 25,000 less expensive than the RS 457, which is priced at Rs 4.20 lakh (ex-showroom). This price advantage makes the Tuono an attractive choice for those looking for a performance bike at a lower cost.
Apart from the design and pricing, the two Aprilia bikes are the same in all other aspects.
Engine, Hardware and Features
The Tuono and its fully-faired sibling are powered by the same 457cc parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp and 43.5Nm and is mated to a six-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch. The bidirectional quickshifter is offered as an optional upgrade on both models. The Aprilia bikes come equipped with a 41mm inverted front fork and a rear monoshock, both of which can be adjusted for preload.
