The renowned International Motorcycle Exhibition EICMA has officially begun in Milan, Italy, with major motorcycle manufacturers displaying their new and updated models. Aprilia, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer, has unveiled the much-anticipated Tuono 457, a street-naked derivative of the RS 457. The motorcycle has a split headlight design, LED DRLs in the form of boomerangs, and a half-fairing with winglets. The RS 457's fairing is replaced with tank extensions to fit the overall sleek and muscular appearance. In contrast to its fully-faired sibling, the motorcycle features a flat handlebar, providing a more comfortable riding position. The bike's uniqueness is further enhanced by the restyled tail section at the back. Read on for more details.
Aprilia Tuono 457: Engine and Hardware
The middleweight naked bike will use the same 457cc parallel-twin motor as the RS 457. This unit has a maximum power output of 46.9bhp at 9,400rpm and a peak torque of 43.5Nm at 6,700rpm. It sports a 270-degree firing sequence and a six-speed transmission. For now, whether the bidirectional quick-shifter will be standard or optional is not confirmed.
In terms of hardware, the bike has USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the rear. It is equipped with disc brakes on both ends with dual-channel ABS. The bike likely rolls on 17-inch wheels covered in Eurogrip Protorq Extreme tires, which claim to provide outstanding grip in both dry and wet situations. Features-wise, the bike is expected to borrow features from its faired counterpart such as a 5-inch TFT display, and traction control.
