Following the successful launch of the popular RS 457 last year, Aprilia India is gearing up to bring yet another exciting product to the market. The Italian bikemaker is set to enter the middleweight adventure bike segment with its upcoming offering, the Tuareg 660. A few days ago, Aprilia officially listed the model on its India website, hinting at an imminent launch. The brand will roll out the Tuareg 660 for our market on April 16. Three colour schemes—Atreides Black, Canyon Sand, and Evocative Dakar Podium—will be offered for the bike. Amidst the likes of the newly released Suzuki V-Strom 600DE, Triumph Tiger 900, Honda XL750 Transalp, and BMW F 850 GS, the incoming Aprilia Tuareg 660 is expected to be a costly option. Most likely, the model will be delivered to India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Here's all you need to know.
Aprilia Tuareg 660: Design
Off-road capability and adventure touring appeal are inherent in the Aprilia Tuareg 660's appearance. Twin triangle-shaped LED headlights that reflect Aprilia's style adorn the tall-looking bike. The company has additionally included a transparent visor over the headlight cluster to shield the rider. The bike's fuel tank, which is integrated with the single-piece seat, has a sleek look going forward. An upswept exhaust and a belly pan to cover the Tuareg 660's underbelly are provided to improve its off-road character.
Featuring an 18-litre fuel tank, the Aprilia middleweight ADV is expected to be the lightest bike in its class with a dry weight of 187 kg. The Tuareg 660 boasts a ground clearance of 240mm, albeit with a higher seat height of 860mm.
Aprilia Tuareg 660: Engine Specs
For those who are unaware, the Tuono 660 and the RS 660, which are also sold in India, use the same 660cc platform as the Aprilia Tuareg 660. But underneath, the ADV features a separate steel tube frame with a built-in subframe. As a result, it will be propelled by the same 659cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that produces 70Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm and 80bhp of maximum power at 9,250rpm. The transmission that comes with this mill has six speeds with an optional quickshifter.
Aprilia Tuareg 660: Features
It seems likely that all three Tuareg 660 variants will have identical specifications and features, except for colour options and liveries. Consequently, traction, engine map, engine brake, Bluetooth connectivity, and a five-inch TFT display are standard across the Tuareg 660 range. With the Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) system, additional electronic features like four riding modes—two of which can be customised—traction control, switchable rear ABS, and cruise control will be available.
Aprilia Tuareg 660: Hardware Components
Hardcore off-roading is the focus of the hardware setup of the Aprilia Tuareg 660. First up, the middleweight ADV is equipped with fully adjustable 43mm USD front forks and a fully adjustable Kayaba rear monoshock, all of which have 240mm of suspension travel. With tubeless tyres, the adventure bike is equipped with 21-18 wire-spoke wheels.
Aprilia Tuareg 660: Price and Availability
According to previously leaked information, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 would start at Rs 18.85 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 19.16 lakh (ex-showroom) for the top-spec model. On April 16, additional information regarding cost and accessibility ought to be disclosed. In addition to selling the made-in-India RS 457, the Aprilia Tuareg will be offered for sale through the brand's Motoplex stores.
