Following its earlier reveal of the updated R3 and R9 overseas, Yamaha has unveiled the new-generation MT-07. The flagship of the MT range, the MT-07, has been on sale in the international market for quite some time, having first arrived in 2014. In 2021, it was given a new face, an updated 689cc liquid-cooled engine, and larger front brake discs, among other things. Fast forward to the present day, the bike is now in its fourth generation. Specifically, the fourth-generation MT-07 gets Yamaha's Y-AMT (automated manual transmission) technology that debuted on the MT-09, along with the standard 6-speed transmission.
Weighing 2.8 kilograms, the Y-AMT system allows the rider to opt for either a finger-operated manual shift system or two automatic modes that automate gearshift operations. Alongside the Y-AMT, the 2025 MT-07 also gets ride-by-wire throttle, making it the first CP2-powered bike to do so. With ride-by-wire comes three preset ride modes and a customisable mode.

2025 Yamaha MT-07: Engine, Chassis
Speaking of, the new MT-07 uses the same 689cc CP2 parallel-twin engine but, for 2025, the engine gets a reworked airbox and new intake system. The fuel tank cover has been revised too. Despite these changes, the power and torque remain the same – 72.4bhp at 8,750rpm and 66.9Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm. Chassis-wise, the 2025 iteration uses a more rigid tubular steel unit, suspended by a 41 mm upside-down front fork and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. Four-piston radial brake callipers at the front allow for improved stopping power and control.
2025 Yamaha MT-07: Ergonomics
Aside from that, Yamaha has updated the riding position for 2025, with a lower seat height (now 805mm), wider handlebars, and lower-set footpegs. Tipping the scales at 183kg (dry), the updated bike features minimalistic bodywork and lighter spin-forged 17-inch wheels with Dunlop radial tyres. It can hold 14 litres of fuel.
2025 Yamaha MT-07: Electronics
In terms of instrumentation, the new MT-07 offers a 5.0-inch TFT panel with Bluetooth connectivity and navigation. It additionally features switchable traction control, cruise control, and power modes. Also up for offer is an assist and slipper clutch (MT only).
