2025 KTM 390 SMC R: Engine, Design and Hardware

The KTM 390 SMC R's design is influenced by the larger 690 SMC R, featuring a sleek single-piece seat that merges seamlessly with the 9-litre fuel tank. The seat height stands at 860mm, and the bike boasts sharp, angular bodywork, a small-sized headlight, a tubular handlebar, and a raised fender, all contributing to its typical Supermoto upright riding stance.

The bike has an LC4c 399cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, delivering 45.3bhp and 39Nm of torque. This unit is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension system includes a WP USD fork with 230mm of travel, offering adjustments for rebound and compression. The rear features a monoshock with the same travel, allowing for adjustments to rebound and preload. Test mules seen in India previously were equipped with alloy wheels and non-adjustable suspension. Braking duties are handled by Bybre radial callipers and discs at both ends, similar to the 390 Duke, providing superior braking compared to the 390 Adventure S and Enduro R’s axial-mounted callipers.

Equipped with switchable rear ABS in supermoto mode, the European version of the 390 SMC R features 17-inch wheels with Michelin Power 6 tyres (110mm front, 150mm rear), though the tyre choice for the Indian model is yet to be confirmed. With a weight of just 154 kg (wet, excluding fuel), it is 11 kg lighter than the 390 Duke.

Additionally, the display provides the rider with the option to switch between different riding modes, including Race, Rain, and Street.
