The updated Sonet was unveiled by Kia India on December 14. This is the first facelift the Sonet has had since its release in 2020, and it comes with a broader equipment list in addition to a few cosmetic changes. The same range of engine choices and trim levels as the previous generation have also been maintained by the South Korean auto manufacturer. The pre-bookings for the sub-4-metre SUV are already underway for a token amount of Rs 25,000. In the sub-compact SUV market, the Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet are comparable vehicles with similar powertrain options and shared platform architecture. Speaking of the variants, HTX, HTX+, GTX+, X-line, HTE, HTK, and HTK+ are the seven trim levels available for the new Sonet. Meanwhile, the Venue can be had in a total of 5 variants, namely, S, S+, S(O), SX, and SX (O). 

In terms of price, the Hyundai Venue will set you back between Rs 7.89 lakh and Rs 13.38 lakh. Both mentioned figures are ex-showroom. For the soon-to-be-launched Sonet, the starting price is expected to fall around Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). The car manufacturer will officially reveal the new Sonet SUV's pricing sometime in January 2024

As already stated above, the Venue and the 2024 Sonet share the same platform and are equipped with the same powertrain choices. A 1.2-litre naturally aspirated (NA) petrol mill with 82bhp of maximum power and 115Nm of peak torque is one of three engine options available for the Venue and the Sonet. Two turbocharged petrol engines are on offer: a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder model with 118bhp of peak power and 172Nm of maximum torque, and a 1.5-litre turbodiesel engine with 114bhp and 250Nm of peak torque.

In terms of gearbox choices, the Venue comes with a 6-speed manual, an IMT, a seven-speed DCT, and a five-speed manual. The new iteration of the Sonet also has the same transmission options; however, in addition, the Sonet's diesel unit is coupled to a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

When it comes to dimensions, the new Sonet is 3995mm long, 1,790mm wide, and 1,642mm tall. It further boasts a 2,500mm wheelbase, 205mm of ground clearance, and a 392-litre boot space. On the other hand, the Venue has the following dimensions: it is 3,995mm long, 1,770mm wide, and 1,617mm tall. Its wheelbase also stands at 2,500mm with 1,955mm of ground clearance and a 305-litre trunk.

Regarding features, the Venue and the Sonet are equally abundant. Two 10.25-inch screens—one for infotainment and the other for the digital instrument cluster—are part of the updated Sonet's cabin. There are 70+ connected car features, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, sunroof, rear sun shades, ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, built-in air purifier, and much more. Moreover, a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), six airbags, and ten ADAS features are standard on the Sonet facelift. It also comes with the "Find My Kia" function, which uses a smartphone app to provide a surround view of the vehicle.

A few of the features of the Venue include an 8-inch touchscreen with built-in navigation, a digital instrument cluster, 60 connected car features, over-the-air updates, Alexa and Google Voice Assistant, a sunroof, a reclining rear seat, an air purifier, two USB C-slots, a wireless phone charger, paddle shifters, and an electrically adjustable driver's seat with four settings, among others. ESC, VSM, hill-assist control, and six airbags are a part of the SUV's safety suite.
