Honda has introduced the updated CBR250RR in Malaysia, with mechanical and performance upgrades. The motorcycle sports a 249cc twin-cylinder engine that now generates 41bhp at 13,000rpm, marking a small power increase of approximately 1bhp. The torque, however, remains constant at 25Nm. To increase power, Honda lowered the combustion volume in the cylinders from 7.5cc to 7cc. As a result, the compression ratio rose from 12.1:1 to 12.5:1. The inlet port diameter was raised by 0.2mm to 21.6mm, enabling additional air and fuel mixture to flow into the combustion chamber. Moreover, the piston and oil ring tension, valve timing, and lift were all modified. With these changes, the engine response is now claimed to be more seamless. However, the unit still comes with a six-speed gearbox, a quickshifter, and a slipper clutch.

The bike now has a 37mm Showa inverted fork with 130mm of travel, which should improve its handling capabilities. However, it continues to employ a 5-step preload adjustable monoshock at the rear. The bike sports a single hydraulic disc brake on both ends and dual-channel ABS for braking. It rolls on 17-inch wheels, with a 110-section front and a 140-section rear tyres. Other features include a blue backlit LCD dash, ride-by-wire throttle, and three riding modes (Sport+, Sport, and Comfort). In Malaysia, the CBR250RR is available in two colour options: Honda Tricolor with gold wheels and Mat Zodiac Blue Metallic with black wheels.
Other Developments
Honda filed design patents for the CB1000 Hornet, the CBR650R, and the CBR500R in May this year. The CB1000 Hornet is powered by a 999cc inline-four cylinder engine that delivers 147bhp and 100Nm, mated to a six-speed manual gearbox. Its hardware components include Showa forks (front), a Pro-Link shock (rear), and dual front and single rear disc brakes. The Honda CBR650R, on the other hand, is propelled by a 649cc inline four-cylinder engine and a six-speed transmission. It has complete LED lighting, traction control, and ABS, among other notable features.

The CB500 Hornet is a naked roadster, whereas the CBR500R is a fully-faired sports bike. In the middleweight adventure tourer class, Honda currently only offers the NX500, which has a 71cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine with 47bhp. Although there's no official word, the mentioned 500cc bikes could have the same features. However, it is vital to note that none of these motorcycles have been officially announced for our market.
