Hero MotoCorp has updated the Xtreme 160R 4V for India with new features such as a panic brake alarm system and dual-channel ABS. The bike, priced at Rs 1.39 lakh (ex-showroom), is now a close competitor to the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, which is another sportier and feature-loaded model in the segment. It is available in multiple of variants, with prices starting at Rs 1.25 lakh. With dual-channel ABS, the top variant of the Apache RTR 160 4V costs Rs 1.39 lakh, which puts it in line with the Xtreme 160R 4V. With both bikes offering unique features in the 160cc market, let's see which one is a more suitable option.
2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V vs TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Design
The slim headlight, robust tank extensions, and an inverted fork with a golden finish provide a dynamic appearance to Hero's 160cc commuter motorcycle. The bike is available in three colours: Kevlar Brown, Stealth Black, and Neon Shooting Star. The former, which blends brown and black hues, is a recent addition to the mix. In contrast to its Hero counterpart, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V has a more aggressive appearance. It comes with a sharp-looking headlight design with fang-type LED DRLs, which add to the front portion's formidable appeal. Though the TVS bike's tank and its extensions offer a muscular touch to the overall look, they are not as big as those on the Xtreme 160R 4V. The motorcycle is offered in six colours: Knight Black, Metallic Blue, Gloss Black, Lightning Blue, Matte Black, and Racing Red.

The Hero machine is driven by a 163.2cc air/oil-cooled engine that cranks out 16.6bhp and 14.6Nm with a 5-speed transmission. The TVS motorcycle, on the other hand, features a 159.7cc air/oil-cooled engine that generates 17.30bhp and 14.73Nm. It also has a 5-speed gearbox. Although the Hero bike has a slightly bigger engine displacement capacity, the TVS machine produces more power.
2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V vs TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Features
The Xtreme 160R 4V is equipped with a negatively lit LCD that now has more brightness than before. It offers Bluetooth connectivity, Turn-by-turn navigation, route information, and call/SMS notifications. A drag racing timer that records sprints at 0–60km/h and runs at 0–402 meters is also included. In comparison, the TVS bike has a fully digital LCD instrument console with a smartphone connection, call and SMS notifications, turn-by-turn navigation, a gear shift indicator, and a crash alert system. It is also equipped with three riding modes (Sport, Urban, and Rain) that can adjust the power output and level of ABS involvement.

2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 4V vs TVS Apache RTR 160 4V: Hardware
The Hero bike's hardware setup comprises USD forks, a preload-adjustable monoshock, a single disc brake at each end, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, on the other hand, sports a rear monoshock and a telescopic front fork. It comes with a 130mm drum at the rear and a 270mm petal disc at the front in the standard version. While the front disc stays the same in the remaining variants, the rear brake is a 200mm petal disc.
