Yamaha Motor Company has launched the 2023 version of the YZF-R3. The new version is available for purchase in the Japanese market at ¥7,29,000 (Rs 4.43 lakh, ex-showroom). On the design front, the Yamaha YZF-R3 is in line with the preceding model. Except, the 2023 vehicle dons new LED turn indicators. The bike carries over the same suspension setup from the previous version. Prospective buyers can choose between Deep Purplish Blue Metallic, Black Metallic, and Dark Blueish Purple Metallic colour options. Yamaha has plans to release the YZF-R3 model soon in the domestic market as well, and we expect it to get a host of features. Although, the launch timeline is yet to be revealed. Once launched in our market, it will take on the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 300, the Ninja 400, and the KTM RC 390.
The Yamaha YZF-R3 was displayed at a dealer conference held in April, alongside a variety of other models, including the R7, MT-03, MT-07, MT-09, and the flagship R1 M.

2023 Yamaha YZF-R3: Mechanicals, Hardware
The powertrain setup of the 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 remains similar to the previous version. The motorcycle's 320cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine is still available. The motor, when connected to a 6-speed gearbox, produces 30Nm of peak torque at 9,000rpm and 42bhp of maximum power at 10,750rpm. In terms of mileage, the 2023 model is claimed to yield a fuel efficiency of 25.4km/l, as certified by WMTC (World Motorcycle Test Cycle).
The 2023 Yamaha YZF-R3 features a diamond-type frame and uses upside-down front forks. Whereas the rear end has a preload-adjustable rear mono-shock. For braking, the bike gets single discs on both ends, along with a dual-channel ABS for protection. It misses out on a safety feature of traction control, which the Indian version will come equipped with.
2023 Yamaha YZF-R3: Design & Features
The 2023 YZF-R3 does not receive any significant updates. However, it does get all-LED lighting and LED turn indicators that replace the bulb-type units found in the previous version. This is what is expected on the Indian-spec model. Earlier, only select variants of the YZF-R3 were accessible with all-LED lighting in the country.
On the other hand, the YZF-R3 retains a twin-pod headlight, a split-style seat setup, a full fairing, a side-slung exhaust, and 17-inch alloy wheels at both ends. In addition, the Japanese-spec model houses an LCD instrument cluster without Bluetooth connectivity and now even comes with a quick-shifter.
