The 2023 BMW S 1000 RR made it first public appearance in the country at the IBW 2022.
BMW Motorrad India has left its fans in a frenzy by showcasing its updated flagship sportbike at IBW 2022. The 2023 BMW S 1000 RR has been revealed at the annual motorcycle event in Goa ahead of its market launch on this December 10. The latest version has a lot new to offer in terms of the engine, chassis, and design updates claims BMW.
The updated bike will now offer 207bhp at 13,750rpm via a 999cc liquid-cooled four-cylinder engine while the torque remains the same at 113Nm at 11,000rpm. Hence, a total increase of 3bhp over the previous standard model will be found in the model. BMW claims the engine is now tuned to give more poke and has a wider rev band than before, with a maximum engine speed of 14,600rpm. The transmission is still a 6-speed with a bidirectional quick-shifter.
The steering head angle has been straightened by 0.5 degrees, and the triple clamp offset is reduced by 3mm. The improved chassis design gives the front wheel more accuracy and input, says BMW. The wheelbase of the motorcycle has been increased from 1,441mm to 1,457mm. The rear swingarm also has an adjustable pivot that can be used to change the geometry of the motorcycle as well as the riding height.
The rear section has been made sportier than the standard version. Moreover, the winglets resemble the ones found on the M 1000 RR. The new RR's main frame has several openings in the profile of the motorcycle to optimise lateral flexibility. The new S 1000 RR features a slide control function and brake slide assist.
The flagship RR model will come in new colour schemes such as Racing Red, Blackstorm Metallic, and Light White. The upcoming sports bike will carry a price-tag worth ₹20 lakh to ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2023 BMW S 1000 RR will compete against the likes of the Aprilia RSV4, Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R, Ducati Panigale V4, and more in the country.
