The Indian Chief lineup for 2022 has been launched in India. The motorcycles are priced in the range of Rs 20-23 lakh, where the buyers have a lot of other options in the premium motorcycle market.
Indian Motorcycles has introduced its 2022 range of Chief in the Indian market. The prices start at Rs 20.75 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to Rs 22.84 lakh (ex-showroom). The Indian Chief range includes the Dark Horse, Bobber Dark Horse, and Super Chief Limited.
The 2022 Indian Chief range gets a 1,890cc V-twin air-cooled engine that pushes out 162Nm of torque. The motorcycles also sport updated styling and the feature list includes a 4-inch circular touch-operated instrument cluster.
The 2022 Chief range has been priced in the same ballpark as the 2021 Triumph Rocket 3 range, the prices for which start at Rs 19.35 lakh (ex-showroom). In this price range, the Indian market gets a variety of motorcycles should you wish to opt for something else.
2021 Ducati XDiavel Dark - Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom)
The newly launched 2021 Ducati XDiavel Dark is another cruiser that is available in the market. While the Indian Chief is a laid back, easy-going mile muncher, the Ducati XDiavel, on the other hand, classifies as a hyper cruiser. A long haul motorcycle with a ting of sportiness.
The 2021 XDiavel gets a relatively smaller engine. The motorcycle manages 158bhp at 9,500rpm and 127Nm at 5,000rpm from its L-twin Ducati Testastretta DVT 1,262cc engine.
Ducati India has also introduced the Black Star variant that gets a few uprated mechanicals. The price of the Ducati XDiavel Black Star is marked at Rs 22.30 lakh (ex-showroom).
2021 BMW R 1250 GS - Rs 20.45 lakh (ex-showroom)
Earlier this year, BMW Motorrad launched its updated R 1250 GS in the Indian market. The new flagship BMW adventure motorcycle offered more features compared to the R 1250 GS it replaced. The new R 1250 GS offered updated braking equipment and a new colour schemes. The optional features are engine brake control, riding modes, hill start assists, heated seat and handlebar risers. There is an optional adaptive headlamp unit as well. The adaptive headlamp also offers functions such as ‘welcome light’, ‘good bye’ and the 'follow me home'.
There is also the BMW R 1250 GS Adventure that offers a few off-road-oriented components as standard. The R 1250 GS Adventure is priced at Rs 22.40 lakh (ex-showroom).
Triumph Rocket 3 - Rs 19.35 lakh (ex-showroom)
As mentioned above, the pricing of the 2022 Indian Cheif range overlaps with the price of the Rocket 3 range. Just as the Indian Cheif, the Rocket 3 is sold in a variety of variants that include, Rocket 3 R, Rocket 3 GT, Rocket 3 GT Triple Black, and Rocket 3 R Black. The motorcycle gets the worlds largest capacity engine – a 2.5-litre in-line three-cylinder – that produces 164bhp at 6,000rpm and 221Nm at 4,000rpm.
The prices start at Rs 19.35 lakh (ex-showroom) and go all the way up to Rs 20.35 lakh (ex-showroom). However, it is only the Rocket 3 and the Rocket 3 GT that are on sale and the Rocket 3 GT Triple Black, and Rocket 3 R Black have been sold out for this year. The second batch of the ‘Black’ variants is expected by early next year.
Premium Street nakeds
For a slightly lesser cost, you shall find the newly introduced 2021 Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS that retails at Rs 16.95 lakh (ex-showroom). The motorcycle packs a new 1,160cc inline three-cylinder engine pushing out 177.5bhp and 125Nm. This street-naked motorcycle comes equipped with Brembo Stylema brakes, fully-adjustable Ohlins suspension, and Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.
Ducati India also offers the Streetfighter V4 that has a base price of Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The top of the line Streetfighter V4 S is priced at Rs 22.99 lakh (ex-showroom). A 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 powers the motorcycle. The overall output is rated at 205bhp at 13,000rpm and 123Nm of torque at 9,500rpm.
