When the Honda 650cc twins were launched back in 2021, the motorcycles were already on the expensive end of the segment. Now, Honda has launched the CKD CBR650R, which demands almost Rs 40,000 more.
The 2022 Honda CBR650R has been launched for Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom). Despite Honda adopting the CKD route for its middle-weight sports-tourer, the pricing of the motorcycle is still on the expensive end.
For reference, the BS6 CBR650R, which was launched back in March 2021, was priced at Rs 8.88 lakh (ex-showroom). The 2022 model demands a Rs 40,000 premium over the BS6 variant, despite being identical in terms of mechanicals and features.
Now, throughout the year, the automobile industry was struggling, and almost all cars and motorcycle makers have increased the prices of their respective products. Now, at the price of Rs 9.35 lakh (ex-showroom), Honda CBR650R seems to miss out on most CKD route benefits.
As mentioned earlier, the 2022 Honda CBR650R is identical to the pre-update model; however, there are slight changes in the graphics. The red motorcycle gets slightly different graphics, and the one in matte black now gets copper highlights. Although, one has to really squint their eyes to notice these differences.
The mechanicals are the same as before. A 649cc in-line four-cylinder engine, which produces 85.6bhp at 12,000rpm and 57.5Nm at 8,500rpm, is the source of power. The gearbox included is a six-speed unit. At the front, the motorcycle gets Showa Separate Function Forks, and the rear gets a mono-shock. The braking hardware has been carried over, and the motorcycle continues to feature a traction control unit.
The seat height is marked at 635mm, which will be a boon for riders of average height. The ground clearance on offer is 132mm. The motorcycle holds up to 15.4 litres of fuel as well.
Now, that the CKD Honda CBR650R has been launched, the CKD CB650R will be launched soon as well. Expect Honda to announce the price of the CKD CB650R in the early weeks of February.
