The all-new Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS features a bigger and more powerful engine, aggressive new look and more features. Only 30 units of the motorcycle will be available, initially.
Just two days after its global unveil, the all-new Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS has now been launched in India. Priced at Rs 16.95 lakh (ex-showroom), the 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS features a more powerful triple engine, aggressive new look and cutting-edge electronics. Customer deliveries in India will begin from March 2021, although it’ll be sold in limited numbers here, initially – the first batch will only have 30 units.
The main highlight of the 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS is its bigger 1,160cc inline three-cylinder engine that replaces the 1,050cc unit of the old bike. The new motor develops 177.5bhp and 125Nm – 30bhp and 8Nm more than before. The new engine is 7kg lighter and has a higher redline – it can rev up to 11,150rpm, which is 650rpm higher than before. Power transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed gearbox that has a slipper-and-assist clutch.
The 2021 Speed Triple 1200 RS weighs 198kg, which marks weight savings of up to 10kg. The motorcycle is fitted with top-shelf cycle parts including Brembo Stylema brakes, fully-adjustable Öhlins suspension, and Metzeler Racetec RR tyres as standard. Also on offer is an all-new 5-inch TFT screen, a quick-shifter, switchable cornering traction control, cornering ABS, five riding modes – Rain, Road, Sport, Track and Rider –, all-LED lighting, keyless ignition, cruise control, and My Triumph Connectivity System.
The Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS doesn’t have a direct rival in the country as of now, but it’ll be competing against the upcoming Ducati Streetfighter V4, new BMW S 1000 R, et al.
