Triumph has launched a special edition of the Scrambler 1200 – the Steve Mcqueen Edition – which pays homage to the Triumph TR6 ridden by Steve McQueen himself in the classic Second World War movie, The Great Escape.
The 2021 Triumph Scrambler 1200 was recently showcased internationally along with a special edition dubbed ‘Steve McQueen’. The special Steve McQueen edition of the Scrambler 1200 will be produced in limited numbers – 1000 units to be exact – for all Triumph’s global markets. Triumph India has gone ahead and launched the limited edition model in India for Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom). As mentioned earlier, the motorcycle will be produced in limited numbers, and therefore the Indian market has been allotted a limited number of units for sale.
The Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen is based on the standard Triumph Scrambler 1200 motorcycle. It gets the same 1,200cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine as the standard model. The power and torque figures are the same as before – 88.7bhp at 7,250rpm and 110Nm at 4,500rpm.
The mechanical bits such as the fully adjustable long-travel Ohlins suspension in the rear and Showa long-travel forks up-front stay the same. The Scrambler 1200 continues to use twin discs up front with Brembo M50 Monobloc callipers. The list of features includes six different riding modes, cornering ABS, traction control, a keyless ignition, single-button cruise control, and a USB charging socket. An all-digital instrument cluster, equipped with Triumph's application for smartphone pairing, will come at an extra cost.
Buyers of the limited edition model will get a certificate of authentication from Triumph’s CEO, Nick Bloor, and Chad McQueen, and every unit sold will be individually numbered. The special edition will sport a unique competition green paint scheme. Triumph will also offer top-of-the-line accessories as standard fitment on the Steve McQueen Edition.
In India, the 2021 Triumph Scrambler 1200 Steve McQueen will rival the Ducati Scrambler 1100 Sport Pro, which carries a similar price tag of Rs 13.74 lakh (ex-showroom).
