The 2021 Ducati Supersport 950 is coming soon, but will the brand launch the higher-spec 2021 Supersport 950 S as well? We shall find that out within a week.
Ducati India has confirmed that the firm will launch the updated Supersport 950 on September 9, 2021. We suspect that the Italian motorcycle maker will also bring along the Supersport 950 S alongside the standard 2021 Ducati Supersport 950.
Both the motorcycles will be equipped with a 937cc L-twin liquid-cooled engine tuned to meet the BS6 norms. The power figures for the standard, as well as, the S model will be the same – 108bhp and 93Nm.
The overall styling of the Supersport 950 is reminiscent of the Panigale V2 and V4 and will remain unchanged in the upcoming model. The motorcycle will get a TFT screen for instrumentation and the electronic package will include IMU-based traction control, wheelie control, two-way quick shifter, and cornering ABS.
The suspension units on the standard motorcycle will be 43mm Marzocchi front forks and a Sachs rear mono-shock. The Supersport 950 S will get 48mm front forks and a gas-charged mono-shock in the rear, both sourced from Ohlins. The S model will also get a Brembo brake callipers M4-32 in the front as opposed to the standard one on the Supersport 950.
If Ducati India launches the 2021 Supersport 950 S, the motorcycle will be priced close to the Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, while the standard model will retail for Rs 1-1.25 lakh lower than the S. The Ducati Supersport 950 will rival the Aprilia RS660 as a premium middle-weight motorcycle on sale in India.
