Aprilia has updated its RS125 and the Tuono 125 for 2021. Recently, at an event in Italy, both the 125 cc motorcycles were showcased and our sources confirm the global debut is likely to be held soon
Production-ready models of the 125cc Aprilia Tuono and RS were showcased at an international event. For 2021 (MY21), both the 125cc fully-faired RS and the street naked Tuono motorcycles sported an all-new design language, more in line with the manufacturer’s 660cc middle-weight motorcycles – RS660 and Tuono 660, that were recently launched in India.
The Aprilia RS125 and the Tuono 125 sported a new headlamp assembly similar to the SXR 160 scooter. The overall design was reworked with sleeker body panels making the motorcycle appear more compact than the predecessor. The new motorcycles will come equipped with an all-digital instrument cluster – a similar unit that we have seen in the SXR scooters.
The 125cc powerhouse of both the motorcycles is now Euro 5 (BS6) compliant and sources confirm that the power figures haven’t dropped on either of the two. The engine produces 15bhp at 10,750rpm.
Aprilia has still kept the RS125 and Tuono125 under wraps and the global unveil is expected sometime this quarter. Currently, Aprilia India is gearing up for the launch of the SXR 125 scooter and it is very unlikely if the Italian manufacturer will consider the 125cc twins for the Indian market. If the RS125 and the Tuono 125 make a debut in the Indian market, the Italian motorcycles will rival the KTM RC125 and the 125 Duke. The Yamaha YZF-R15 V 3.0 and the MT-15 could also rival the Italian 125cc motorcycles.
