The updated Africa Twin was first showcased in India at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The updated Honda Africa Twin can now be booked at all Honda Wing World dealerships across India. Only 50 units of the bike are up for booking currently, each carrying a price tag of ₹13.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
For the 2018 model year, the Honda Africa Twin now gains Throttle-by-wire technology that gives the rider the ability to manage engine output as well as traction at the rear wheel. Furthermore, it gets an update to the Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), which offers seven levels as compared to three levels of the outgoing model. HTSC can now also be turned off.
Powering the 2018 Africa Twin is the familiar 999cc parallel-twin motor that’s good for producing 88bhp of max power and 93.1Nm of peak torque. The bike retains its Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT), in which three modes of operation are available.
The automatic D mode is ideal for city and highway riding, and achieves optimum fuel efficiency. The automatic S mode offers three levels of sportier riding as the ECU lets the engine rev a little higher before shifting up, and shifts down sooner when decelerating. The MT mode gives full manual control, allowing the rider to shift gear with the left handlebar trigger control buttons.
Honda is also claiming that a few lucky 2018 Africa Twin customers will also get a chance to witness their favourite riders live at MotoGP.
