Kawasaki all set to launch the 2017 KX 250F and KX 100 motocross motorcycles in the country.
Kawasaki may have its new range of road-going motorcycles waiting in the wings to go on sale in India, but the company will be launching two brand new motocross motorcycles here before that. Come December 18, 2016, Kawasaki will launch the 2017 KX 250F and KX100 in the Indian market. Both will be sold as CBUs in the country.
The Kawasaki KX 250F has been on sale globally since 2002, although none of the previous generation models were sold in India. For the model year 2017, the KX 250F has been completely re-engineered as it features a lighter chassis, a narrower frame and a more powerful engine over the 2016 model among other highlights. The KX 250F is powered by a liquid-cooled 249cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine that comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle weighs 104.5kg and has a ground clearance of 320mm. Expect the KX 250F to be priced around Rs 7 lakh – Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
The smaller KX 100 is largely unchanged for model year 2017. It is powered by a water-cooled 99cc single-cylinder 2-stroke engine, sending drive to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox. The KX 100 tips the scales at 77kg. It is expected to be priced around Rs 3 lakh – Rs 4 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.
Among other details, both the motorcycles will only be available in “lime green” shade. Stay tuned as we bring more updates from the launch event on December 18.
