2016 India Speed Week has been scheduled for 9-11 December in Kolkata
While the official dates for the 2016 India Speed Week were announced some time back, registrations for the drag race have now commenced. Interested participants can register in the two-wheeler as well as the four-wheeler category before 30th November. Initially scheduled for January, the 2016 India Speed Week was postponed due to some complications in getting government approvals.
These drag races will be competed in various class separated by displacement and modification levels. Needless to say, the fastest time from standstill to a quarter mile will take the top prize.
The India Speed Week is being organised by Elite Octane Inc., the same company that organises the Valley Run at Amby Valley in Lonavla, Maharashtra. Much to the delight of auto maniacs in the City of Joy, the 2016 India Speed Week will be organised in Kolkata. Governed by the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI), the event will take place at the Behala Flying Club runway. The organisers have made special arrangements to ensure maximum safety of spectators and competitors alike with rescue on call, firefighting and medical support as well.
Amit Modi, Chairman, India Speed Week said “We are thrilled to announce an event so grand. We plan to exhibit this large-scale affair by showcasing the best in drag racing, auto exhibitions, adventure sports and entertainment across the three days of India Speed Week. Public Roads, no matter how deserted or controlled can never match the safety, peace of mind and thrill of an airstrip. The zestful show, in a never been seen before format, will celebrate extravaganza, adrenaline and glamour.”
Gracing the event will be football superstar Baichung Bhutiya who will be the ‘Face of the Event’. Accompanying him during the flag-off will be Actor and bike enthusiasts John Abraham, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff.
With cars and bikes at various stages of modifications, the three-day extravaganza promises to be one helluva adrenaline rush for all auto maniacs. Expect hundreds of cars or bikes to drool over and the sound of the engines and free-flow exhaust systems to give you goosebumps. Tickets for the 2016 India Speed Week can be booked on bookmyshow.
