The iconic Italian scooter, Vespa will be going electric from 2017. Piaggio, the parent company of the brand has revealed an electric version concept of the scooter called the Vespa Electtrica, and it looks drop-dead gorgeous.

The overall design of the scooter remains similar to the modern version of the vehicle, which keeps certain styling cues from the original Vespa giving it that retro look. The Vespa Electtrica will get an all metal body and an electric motor instead of the 125cc or 150cc engines. The concept version that has been unveiled has flat silver paint job and a grey seat with electric blue accents on the edge of the front bodywork and on the seat. The Vespa badge on the rear body of the scooter is also in the same electric blue. The wheels of the scooter also feature the Blue accent around the bold five-spoke rims which seems to have a machined alloy finish to it.

Piaggio has not revealed any technical details about the scooter as yet, but have confirmed that they will put the electric scooter into production and will go on sale in the second half of 2017 in the global market.
