The all-new Volkswagen Tiguan has made its global debut in the international market. The Tiguan SUV, now in its third generation, receives a completely new design, along with a revamped interior and the latest technology. The latest iteration looks similar to its first-generation counterpart, with a rounded design profile. However, the new Tiguan sports some changes, such as Touareg-derived 'IQ Light HD' matrix headlights with 38,400 multi-pixel LEDs, a glass-covered LED light strip, and a closed-off grille. Furthermore, you get a full-width LED taillight with 3 LED clusters at both ends and new dual-tone alloy wheels. In place of the straight connected lines, the new-generation Tiguan SUV dons a fresh appearance with rounded and wrinkled lines. Its clean front end underlines that the new Tiguan SUV is more aerodynamic than before, with a drag coefficient of 0.28, down from 0.33.
New Volkswagen Tiguan: Size/Dimensions

New Volkswagen Tiguan: Platform, Powertrain
Sharing its underpinnings with the latest Volkswagen Passat available in the international market, the updated Tiguan is based on the (Modular Transverse Matrix) MQB 'evo' platform. Underneath the bonnet, the Tiguan receives 4 powertrain options – a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel, a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol, a new 1.5-litre mild-hybrid turbo-petrol (eTSI), and a plug-in hybrid unit, which will be offered in conjunction with the automatic transmission at a later date. A new 19.7kWh battery in the plug-in hybrid versions is claimed to offer a pure-electric driving range of up to 100km. Transmission duties are carried out by a 6-speed DSG on the plug-in hybrids as well as a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic unit on petrol and diesel models. Available as standard are paddle shifters. Notably, the plug-in hybrids support both AC fast charging and DC fast charging.
New Volkswagen Tiguan: Electronics
In addition, the Volkswagen Tiguan also comes with a Dynamic Chassis Control Pro option, which combines twin-valve variable dampers with Vehicle Dynamic Manager (VDM) – an MQB system that made a debut in the current Golf GTI. What VDM does is that it controls the functions of the electronic differential locks and the lateral dynamics of the shock absorbers. As a result, it is said to deliver wheel-specific braking interventions and selective changes in damper hardness, leading to great comfort and enhanced performance during dynamic cornering.
New Volkswagen Tiguan: Interior, Features
A simple and minimalist dashboard or Digital Cockpit inspired by the newest ID.7 electric sedan is found in the new Tiguan. There is a 15.0-inch touchscreen running the latest MIB4 infotainment and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster. A gloss black panel holds the screens and tiny AC vents. The car now gets physical buttons on the steering wheel instead of touch-capacitive controls. At the base of the infotainment display is the backlit slider controller.
Moreover, you also get a new centre console, which is slim and houses a rotary controller that alters the driving modes and audio volume. Another highlight is 'Atmospheres' or pre-programmed settings for the ambient lighting and other functions, like playlists from Apple Music and Spotify. These settings include Lounge, Energetic, Joy, Minimal, and Me.
New Volkswagen Tiguan: Other Highlights
Other updates include new 'ergoActive' Plus seats with pneumatic 4-way lumbar adjustment and a 10-chamber pressure massage function, a programming function for automatic activation of seat ventillation or seat heating, and high-performance assist systems, such as autonomous emergency braking, lane keep and lane change assist, front assist, dynamic road sign display, and Park Assist Pro. The Tiguan has a larger boot, increased by 37 litres to 652 litres, while there is now more headroom for rear occupants (an increase of 8mm in the front and 10mm in the rear).
