<p><strong>The standard-wheelbase Tiguan is making a comeback, although, the longer one, which is capable of seating seven, has likely been discontinued.</strong></p>

<p>Days before the India launch of the <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/volkswagen/">Volkswagen</a><a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/volkswagen/tiguan/"> Tiguan</a>, the German carmaker has unlisted the Tiguan Allspace from its website. The Tiguan Allspace is a seven-seater full-size SUV which was available only with a petrol powertrain, however, with its discontinuation, <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/volkswagen/">Volkswagen</a> India has lost its presence in the aforementioned segment. &nbsp;However, that void will be soon filled by the facelifted Skoda Kodiaq, which will be launched in India by January 2022.</p>

<p>The Skoda Kodiaq will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor as the Tiguan Allspace, and there will be no diesel powertrain to choose from. An official price announcement of the 2022 <a href="https://www.autox.com/new-cars/skoda/kodiaq-petrol-bs6/">Skoda Kodiaq facelift</a> is expected by the first half of January 2022. Expect a sticker price to start close to the Rs. 35 lakh (ex-showroom) mark.</p>

<p>Interestingly, the Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace has exited the market when there is an increased demand in the three-row MPV space. <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/jeep-meridian-spied-ahead-of-india-launch-110305/">Jeep India will soon bring in its Meridian</a>, which is essentially a three-row Compass. <a href="https://www.autox.com/news/car-news/kia-ky-mpv-global-debut-on-december-16-110346/">Kia India is readying a Seltos based seven-seater MPV called the ‘Carens’</a>. However, the Carens is likely to be positioned in a segment lower which is more in line with the MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and the Mahindra XUV700.</p>
