Toyota Hilux Highlights

The Toyota Hilux luxury pick-up truck has been launched in India, finally increasing competition in an untapped sphere where Isuzu in India had a somewhat monopoly. The new four-seater SUV style pick-up goes against quite a few cars, sedans and SUVs alike. But perhaps its most direct competition is Isuzu's D-Max V-Cross in India. Toyota Hilux Exterior Details

The design of the Toyota Hilux's exterior is girthy and proper SUV-like. It gets a hexagonal grille on the front end, has thick chrome features and is in tune with its dual purposes with thick skid plates and cladding. To keep it looking modern for 2022, the pick-up features projector headlights with integrated DRLs. In front of its rear open storage, the pick-up features a double cab design with rear passenger seats. Below, the pick-up is shod with spoked alloys. While it shares its underpinnings with the Fortuner, on the exterior, that's all the two SUVs have in common. The Toyota Hilux's dimensions measure 5325mm in length, 1855mm in width and 1815mm in height. With a wheelbase of 3085mm, the Hilux is longer than its direct competitor, Isuzu's offering.

Toyota Hilux Engine & Transmission

The Toyota Hilux's interior features an all-black layout contrasted with aluminium finished and gloss black highlights. The interior elements share some components with its cousin, the Fortuner. These shared components include the 8-inch dash integrated infotainment system and its steering wheel with various controls as well as the instrument cluster and climate control components. Interior features include electric-control seats on the front, driver armrest storage and more. Other features and creature comforts may also include automatic headlamps, hill start assist and an auto limited-slip differential.

Toyota Hilux Handling

The Toyota Hilux's engine specifications include the same unit that does duties in the Toyota Fortuner. Powering it is a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine that puts down 204PS and 420Nm of torque with the manual transmission, while the automatic goes up to 500Nm of torque. Transmission duties are provided by a six-speed manual transmission and an optional six-speed torque converter automatic transmission. The pick-up SUV gets a 4WD drive train with an additional low-range gearbox and front and rear electronic differential locks.

Toyota Hilux Features

The Toyota Hilux feature list is a rather long one. It gets a horde of goodies and creature-comforts such as DRLs with full LED headlights and turn indicators, both front and rear climate control and an 8.0-inch infotainment screen integrated into the dashboard complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Safety features aren't lagging behind either with both front and rear parking sensors, seven airbags, tyre angle monitor, traction control and an automated limited-slip differential to name a few.

Toyota Hilux Price & Variants

The Toyota Hilux is priced in India starting at ₹33.99 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for the standard variant and going up to ₹36.80 lakhs (Ex-Showroom) for the High variant with automatic transmission. The pick-up SUV comes at a significant premium over its direct competitor, the Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, considering its premium lifestyle SUV sensibility. The Toyota Hilux gets five colour schemes - White Pearl Crystal Shine, Emotional Red, Super White, Grey Metallic and Silver Metallic.
