1. 10 January 2025: Tata launches the 2025 Tiago EV in India at a price of INR 8 Lakhs.

Tata Tiago EV Engine and Transmission

This EV is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor placed at the front axle. It is paired with a 24kWh (a couple of lower variants have 19.2kWh battery), high energy density lithium-ion battery. The battery has been placed under the rear seats. The maximum performance, this motor can deliver, is 74bhp and 114 Nm. The motor performance of the variants with 19.2 kWh battery differs from the mentioned figures. This car has a single-speed automatic transmission system and runs on purely electric driving mode.

Tata Tiago EV Riding Range

The Tiago EV LR variants deliver a driving range of 293 km on a single charge. On the other hand, the MR variants deliver a range of 223 km.

Tata Tiago EV Charging

It has an IP7-rated battery that takes 8:45 hours for a full charge through a normal charger. With a fast charger, the full charge can be done within one hour.

The Long Range Tiago variants achieve an acceleration of 0-60 km/h within 5.7 seconds. The same sprint is achieved by the Medium range variants in 6.2 seconds.

This Tata car has an independent lower wishbone McPherson dual-path front suspension. In the rear, it has a twist beam with coil springs and hydraulic shock absorbers. It has electric steering with tilt columns, front disc brakes, and rear drum brakes. The multimode regenerative braking system of this car helps to top off the battery. The car rides on 14-inch wheels sporting 175mm wide radial tyres.

The dual-tone interiors, with a light grey and black theme, of this hatchback feature sporty leatherette flat-bottom steering wheel. This Tata hatchback further features chrome inner door handles, knitted headliners, collapsible grab handles, and plush leather upholstery. A few variants come with fabric seat upholstery too. Additionally, a 10.24-inch touchscreen infotainment system by Harman, digital instrument cluster, and prismatic inner rear view mirror, are also included. It also has a cooled glovebox, tablet storage in the glove box, and steering-mounted audio, phone, and voice controls.

This EV is built on a four-star GNCAP-rated Tiago platform and, therefore becomes one of the safest hatchbacks in India. It has dual frontal airbags and an antilock braking system with an electronic brake force distribution system. The ABS and EBD keep the vehicle in control under sudden braking conditions. Besides, a reverse camera with dynamic guidelines and front fog lights to keep the view clear in foggy conditions. The EV also gets seat belts with pre-tensioners, load limiters, and crash-locking tongues.

The car also has child safety rear door locks, speed-dependent auto door locks, and auto battery cut-off on accident. In addition, impact-sensing auto door unlocks, panic notifications and Reverse Park Assist with audible signals and graphic displays enhance safety.
