Tata Motors is going to be launching its fourth all-electric model in India, the Punch.ev, on the 17th of January 2024. The electric SUV was unveiled about 10 days ago, revealing its exterior, variants, specifications, and more. The upcoming model is the first electric vehicle that sits on the new EV architecture, dubbed acti.ev (Advanced Connected Tech-Intelligent Electric Vehicle). Upon arrival in the country, it will be sold alongside the Nexon.ev, Tiago.ev, and Tigor.ev. The bookings for the new EV are underway for a token amount of Rs 21,000. While the price announcement is less than two days away, let's take a closer look at what we know so far:
Tata Punch.ev: Design
Taking design inspiration from the Nexon.ev, the front end of the Punch.ev features split LED headlamps, a full-width LED light bar, a lower grille, and a sliver faux skid plate. There is also a charging flap located beneath the Tata emblem. On the sides, the car remains largely unchanged, save for new alloy wheels. Meanwhile, at the back, there is a dual-tone bumper.
Tata Punch.ev: Battery, Range
In terms of the powertrain, the new Punch.ev will be offered in two versions – Medium and Long Range. Expect the former to get a 25kWh battery pack, while the latter could come with a larger 35kWh battery.
Depending on the model and battery specifications, the new Gen 2 EV architecture is claimed to yield a range between 300km and 600km. Although the power and torque figures are under wraps, we do know that the Punch.ev has multi-mode brake regeneration.
Tata Punch.ev: Features
Inside, the new Tata Punch.ev will feature twin 10.25-inch screens for the infotainment and instrumentation, a two-spoke steering wheel, an electric sunroof, ventillated front seats, a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto-hold functionality, connected car tech, cruise control, a wireless charger, and an air purifier. Six airbags and an electronic stability programme (ESP) will be standard on all Punch EVs, while the top-spec version will have a blind spot monitor.
Tata Punch.ev: Variants, Colours
The Punch.ev will be available in five variants: Smart, Smart +, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered +. As for colour options, the electric SUV can be had in five dual-tone and four monotone exterior shades, including Seawood Green, Daytona Grey, Fearless Red, Pristine White, and Empowered Oxide.
