Tata Punch EV Spotted for the First Time Ahead of India Launch
Tata Motors will likely introduce the electric variant of the Punch in the country soon. The upcoming model will reportedly have a range of improvements over the ICE-powered model both inside and outside.
Tata Motors will launch the EV version of the Punch in India shortly. The first set of its spy images is circulating, across the internet, revealing a few changes over the standard model. Right now, there are no official details on the micro SUV, but according to spy shots, the upcoming electric will sport disc brakes at the rear, unlike the ICE-powered vehicle, which has drum brakes. The SUV, captured parked on the flatbed truck, demonstrates significant improvements inside too. It could get blue accents surrounding the AC Vents, a reworked centre console, a new rotary dial, a flat-bottom steering wheel, and more. As far as the powertrain goes, there is no exact detail. However, market speculation reveals that the electric variant of the micro SUV could share the electric motor and battery details with its siblings - the Tata Tigor and the Tiago EVs. Tata Punch EV: Powertrain
As stated, Tata Motors has not made the powertrain details public of the upcoming electric Punch SUV. However, some market reports indicate that the new variant will be identical to the Tata Tiago or the Tata Tigor EVs. For starters, the electric variant of the Tiago is available with two battery pack options: 19.2kWh and 24kWh. Meanwhile, the Tigor EV sports a 26kWh battery pack. It remains to be seen which of the sibling will the upcoming SUV will follow for the powertrain. There is no concrete update on the range as well, but rumours say that the EV may have a driving range between 250 to 300 Kilometre on a full charge.
Tata Punch EV: Exterior & Interior
Outside, the spotted model featured rear disc brakes, which are unavailable in the current version of the SUV. Aside from this, the SUV looked almost similar to its ICE counterpart. Speaking of the interior, the upcoming electric micro SUV will likely carry forward the 7-inch touchscreen found with the petrol-powered variant. However, the carmaker is expected to change it to a new 10.25-inch touchscreen, which is available with the recently introduced Dark edition of the Nexon EV Max. Other features anticipated for the SUV include blue accents for the AC vents, a flat-bottom steering wheel, an electronic parking brake, a reworked rotary dial, and more.

Tata Punch EV: Rivals, Price & Availability
Tata Motors has not shed light on the exact availability and price of the model. However, industry reports indicate that the electric variant of the Punch will presumably launch in the October of this year. It is likely to ask a price ranging between Rs 9 lakh and 10 lakh. Both prices are ex-showroom. After launch, the micro SUV will go up against the Citroen eC3 and more models in the market.
