Skoda Kushaq and Slavia fall victim to semiconductor shortage
Skoda’s resurgence in India was led by the Kushaq and is set to continue with the Slavia, but the semiconductor shortage is playing spoilsport. It is having to reduce the touchscreen size from 10-inches to 8-inches on the higher-end variants of the two.
The recently introduced Monte Carlo edition of the Kushaq will continue to get the 10-inch screen.
Skoda India has had to resort to drastic measures to tackle the ongoing semiconductor shortage. It is reducing the touchscreen size in the Kushaq SUV and Slavia sedan from 10-inches to 8-inches.
The change in size is applicable on the Ambition and Style variants of both cars, which were previously offered with the larger 10-inch HD display. Not a lot of information is out about the new display, apart from the fact that it will be a Panasonic unit.
There is more bad news. The screen will not only be smaller in size, but it will not support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Skoda Play ap will also not be supported. There is a silver lining though and that is, that the Monte Carlo edition which was launched recently will continue to get the larger 10-inch touchscreen.
As far as the price goes, Skoda should reduce the price of the affected variants, although there has been no communication on the same till now. The Czezh carmaker has taken this drastic step so that customers don’t have to wait months to take delivery of their new Skoda vehicle.
