I have Duster

Having Duster since last 5 years. My brother also drives it and my 18 year old daughter also has started learning in it. She feels very safe inside the car.

Handling is great

The best SUV to drive is Duster. The chassis is very good, but I wish they can bring new model as this model is too old now. I will buy the new version for sure.

Best SUV

Till today, Duster is my favourite SUV. The handling is good, engine performs very well and the Duster is a spacious SUV for my family. Everyone is happy with it.

Crazy 4x4

I took my Duster to outskirts of the city and drove it in some sandy, slushy areas. Was very impressed with its capabilities off the road.

Steering movement bit awkward

Making sudden and quick turns is not very reassuring as the steering feel is quite vague in such instances. Best use the steering at a modest pace with gradual movement.

Easy to use on rural roads

I use my car for expeditions and so the road surface is usually loose gravel, mud and rocky at times. The high ground clearance and good suspension really help to tackle all types of surfaces. Overall decent off-roading capability.

Good value for money

The Duster was quite cheaper than its competitors without much difference in features or engine, so I bought it. The decision turned out to be a good one as I found it to be very impressive. Looks and performance are equally good.

AMT can be smoother

AMT works fine only when driving at traffic speeds as the gear changes happen as they are supposed to. But, when you wish to overtake and press the accelerator hard, the changes become very jerky, as if the gearbox is not prepared to change at that time. Something should be done to make the changes smooth and more immediate.

Good, long warranty

I purchased my car right when it was launched and the 4-year warranty really helped me during the entire ownership experience. The car did develop some flaws during that time but luckily, they were taken care of by warranty claims. As a result, the experience has been very peaceful.

Oddly placed switches inside the cabin

Buttons for controlling the radio and other media are placed behind the steering wheel and the mirror adjustment knob is placed below the handbrake. No matter how hard one tries, these controls are difficult to get used to. Also, it becomes a pain to control them while driving, distracts a lot. Best to adjust the mirrors when not moving and memorize the radio buttons!

Seats too flat and hard

The car’s good performance is not matched at all by the comfort it offers. The seats are quite hard and feel as if sitting on a flat bench. Only the ride quality which is very good partially saves this otherwise major design flaw.

Interiors look and feel cheap

The car as per its price is in a good segment but the interiors make it feel like it belongs to a much lower price bracket. Plastics are hard and the overall look of the cabin is quite dull. It feels like a big cost-cutting move by Renault.

Heavy controls

The Duster is a good car no doubt but the experience is somewhat ruined by the heavy clutch pedal. When modern cars are coming with more and more lighter pedals, Renault is heading in the opposite direction. I can’t imagine how tight it will feel when the clutch will be used up significantly.

High-speed stability is remarkable

Most of my driving is done on highways and the Duster is very refined and solid for doing such kind of driving. It gives me a lot of confidence since it remains very stable at high speeds as well. Brakes and tyres also perform decently.

Very economical

Despite going for the 108 bhp version of the Duster, the mileage has been beyond my expectation and this happens very rarely with anyone. Though my driving style is very eased out, I am pretty sure it will perform well if driven aggressively too.

Comfortable seating for rear passengers

I spend most of the time in the rear seat of my car and it is time spent in good comfort. There is quite a lot of room in the back and the seat is supportive. What is best, however, is the suspension set up which does not filter any bump into the cabin. Happy with the designing and thought put into the car.

Practical storage in the cabin

Very few car makers think about the everyday needs of car users but Renault has done a good job of keeping those things in mind. Biggest example – storage areas in the Duster. The door pockets and dashboard storage are well-proportioned to fit a decent number of things in them. Cubby holes are also of good use.

Good suspension

I have been using my car for a few months now and I have to travel on all types of roads for my work. I cannot imagine a car better than the Duster to do the job. It has good ground clearance and the suspension can tackle any type of road surface with ease. Even large potholes don’t cause a problem. Highly satisfied.

Can’t do any better

I’ve driven my Duster for around 40000km and I believe it is a perfect SUV in every aspect. It is very stable on highways and can do 140kmph super easily. It also commands respect on the road due to its butch design and cars automatically would give you way if they see this beast coming at them. Inside the space is very good, and the suspension is brilliant. Bad Indian roads cannot touch this car and it would tackle those roads with ease. Me and my friend got our Duster together and both us love it very much.

AMT version is very troublesome

Got the Duster AMT thinking it would take make my life easier in Bangalore’s disastrous traffic, however this renault car has proven to be below my expectation. It vibrates very abnormally during heavy traffic, gearshifts are very jerky and there are weird noises coming from transmission every now and then. Renault guys have no idea why these things happen, and some technicians even tell me that all those noises and vibrations are normal! Very unimpressed given the fact that the car has costed me around 13 lacs on road.

Poor build quality

I am using Duster SUV from year 2014 and the car has been full of quality issues ever since i bought one. The AC knob is of terrible quality and very often gives up altogether. I have had it replaced four times, but still i keep facing the same issue after some time. Then there's the door lock that does not operate properly. There was a time when i could not open the door from inside and i had to roll the window down to pull the handle from outside! The lock also has been replaced 3 times. Now, the front seat also squeaks constantly. I appreciate this SUV for its power and looks but all these issues have just spoilt my ownership experience!

Clutch is very heavy

Duster is a fine car overall with its tough character but mind you, it can prove to be a real pain in long traffic jams as the heavy clutch can give you knee pains. When I test drove it before buying, I found the clutch acceptable, and it was when the car was new. However, over the years it has worsen and now traffic jams scare me. Service centre has a temporary fix for this problem but it does not last very long.

Excellent buy

Brought this wayback in 2012 when it was just launched. I had to extend my budget to even buy the base 85PS RXE model but it has been a wonderful journey with this car. Both me and my wife just love driving our duster. The engine is powerful and pick up is very nice. It gives a good view of the road ahead due to raised driving position and s a great companion for broken roads. Despite of being more than 5 years old, the Duster still looks very handsome on road!!
