Porsche to Debut Its "Most Dynamic Taycan of all Time" on March 11; Teaser Shows Big Rear Wing
The upcoming Porsche Taycan could be a track-ready version of a prototype that shattered the Tesla Model S Plaid's EV lap record by 17.681 seconds.
It's already known that Porsche is preparing to reveal a new range-topping version of the Taycan, likely to be the Turbo GT – the same broke the Nurburgring lap record of the Tesla Model S Plaid by clocking 7:07.55 minutes on the Nordschleife. Now, a teaser image released by the German manufacturer has shown the car's side profile, although hidden in shadow. Even so, we can spot a few design details, with the company saying it would be the "most dynamic Taycan of all time". The upcoming Taycan – which is scheduled to make its global debut on March 11 – features a massive wing at the rear, indicating the car is a track-ready version of a prototype that not only shattered the Model S Plaid's EV lap record by 17.681 seconds but was also 26 seconds faster than the current Taycan Turbo S sports sedan.
Speaking of the Turbo S, 0 to 97km/h (60mph) comes in a claimed time of 2.3 seconds. Thanks to the vehicle's twin-motor powertrain – consisting of a bigger 98.6kWh battery pack and two motors – that makes a bonkers 939bhp (or 700kW), the 2025 Taycan Turbo S is the fastest-accelerating production car by the Stuttgart-based carmaker. Considering the fact that the upcoming high-performance EV – unnamed as of now – will be the most potent Taycan ever, expect it to pack more punch than the recently revealed Turbo S.
New Porsche Taycan: Powertrain, Performance
While not much is known about the company's most powerful Taycan, Porsche could equip the model with a 986bhp (1000hp) three-motor setup, for it to keep pace with the Model S Plaid (1,006bhp). Besides, expect the new car from Porsche to get a revised chassis and new aero elements such as a carbon fibre spoiler. The pre-series Taycan Turbo GT, driven by Lars Kern, is also said to be 'a good 25km/h faster heading into the Schwedenkreuz', putting the distance between the Turbo GT and the Turbo S at more than 1.3 kilometres.
New Porsche Taycan: Features
Given that the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT will be a top-spec model in the Taycan's lineup, modifications over the Turbo S will include revamped bumpers, new headlights, a rear air intake, and a massive rear wing. For safety reasons, the pre-production car that lapped the Nurburgring ring featured racing bucket seats and a roll cage, the latter of which could not find its way into the production-spec version.
New Porsche Taycan: Price
Price-wise, the 2025 Porsche Taycan starts at $ 101,395 for the entry-level model and goes up to $ 213,695 for the top-spec Turbo S Cross Turismo; however, this pricing doesn't include the future flagship. The electric car is expected to hit the U.S. market in the summer of 2024.
Porsche EV Lineup in India
In the Indian market, Porsche currently retails two electric vehicles, namely the Taycan (Rs 1.61 crore) and the Macan Turbo (Rs 1.65 crore) – launched in India in January 2024. Prices are ex-showroom.
