Mercedes-Benz EQE SUV Highlights

The German luxury automobile manufacturer Mercedes Benz added a third electric vehicle to their portfolio for the Indian market, the EQE SUV. It would have been their fourth EV had they not discontinued the EQC.

As far as its pricing is concerned, the EQE rivals the Jaguar I-Pace, BMW iX, and Audi Q8 E-Tron, among others.

So, without wasting time, let’s delve into the offerings that this German all-electric SUV boasts. Let’s read on, then.

Mercedes Benz EQE SUV Specifications

As for this particular Merc EQ, the German automobile manufacturer used its in-house designed EVA platform that underpins the sedan and SUV versions of the Mercedes Benz EQS. In addition, the EQE is also available in the sedan version but we don’t know when will it enter our shores.

At the heart of the Mercedes Benz EQE SUV, there is a 90.56 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and it is placed under the floor pan. This fully loaded 4MATIC or AWD (all-wheel drive) electric SUV can pump out 402.3 bhp and 858 Nm of peak torque. As per the company’s claim, the EQE SUV can touch 100 km/h from a standstill in just 4.9 seconds. Plus, it can reach a maximum speed of 210 km/h.

This Merc EV has a WLTP-claimed range of 550 km on a full charge. For reference, WLTP stands for Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure. Speaking of efficiency, the electric motors of the EQE SUV can convert kinetic energy into electric energy, known as Intelligent Recuperation (in Merc’s lingo). That said, the driver can use the paddle shifters to select the available recuperation levels, as well as, the driving modes. However, it’s worth noting that the consumptions will vary as per the drive mode. There are four driving modes: Comfort, Sport, Eco, and Off-Road.

As far as the charging is concerned, the German luxury carmaker claims that the Mercedes Benz EQE SUV can charge from 10% to 80% in 32 minutes, via a fast charger. Further, it has two charging options: an 11 W wall box charger and a 170 kW DC fast charger.

Mercedes Benz EQE SUV Tyres, Brakes and Safety

The Mercedes Benz EQE SUV runs on a 20-inch five-spoke lightweight alloy wheel on both ends. At the same time, the braking duties are taken care of by disc brakes.

Thanks to its air suspension, one can also increase the ride height of this Merc EV.

And, on the safety front, the EQE SUV has a long list of safety offerings. It is equipped with basic safety features, such as ABS with EBD, brake assist, ESP, torque-on-demand, hill hold control, and traction control. Further, it has child-seat anchorages, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an engine immobiliser, a child-safety lock, a speed-sensing door lock, etc. Other safety offerings include anti-glare mirrors (all), a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, and connected car technology.

Apart from that, it is also equipped with an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS). The ADAS suite comprises features like lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, Merc’s digital light, and rear cross-traffic assist. In addition, like other Merc cars, this SUV is also equipped with Mercedes’ notable safety feature, the Pre-Safe Impulse Side. This feature comes into life when the sensors anticipate a side impact, making the seat’s chamber inflate, as a result, the front passenger’s seat’s side bolster moves the seat away from the door to protect the passenger.

Last, but not least, the Mercedes Benz EQE SUV boasts a total of nine airbags.

Mercedes Benz EQE SUV Comfort and Convenience

Since this brand is known for producing comfort-oriented vehicles, the EQE SUV continues to carry the brand’s USP. It has massage seats with heating and cooling ventilation (all seats), electrically adjustable seats, one-touch power windows (all), electrically adjustable ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, hands-free door access (including opening and closing of tailgate), active parking assist, etc.

For entertainment and user engagement, the EQE SUV has an MBUX hyper-screen with haptic feedback. As you might be aware, this offering incorporates three displays that blend so well underneath a glass panel that gives one large MBUX hyper-screen. The driver’s display, infotainment unit and passenger’s display measure 12.3-inch, 17.7-inch and 12.3-inch, respectively.

Further, this luxury electric SUV has 64-colour ambient lighting, a Burmester-sourced 3D-surround sound system, a heads-up-display, a panoramic sunroof, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice command, a wireless charger, gesture control and GPS and navigation.

As for the exterior paint, it is offered in seven colours: Obsidian Black, Sodalite Blue, Emerald Green, Velvet Brown, High-Tech Silver, Polar White, and Selenite Grey. They all are metallic colour shades.
